Lagos, Nigeria – The Oyo State Government, through its Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, made a significant impact at the 2025 Nigeria International Trade Fair (NITF) held at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex in Badagry. The event, which runs until November 30, showcases a vibrant array of indigenous goods and products, highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit.
Among the locally-made products on display are Shea butter, Aso-Oke fabrics from Oke-Ogun, ready-to-wear outfits, agro-allied products, and innovative machinery. Visitors were particularly drawn to handmade bags, shoes, and traditional textiles like Adire and Batik corporate shirts and hoodies. Local food items, including Garri Ijebu and powdered cassava flour, also featured prominently, alongside popular traditional Koko Irin (iron pots) that captured the attention of many attendees.
Leading the Oyo State delegation, Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi, Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, emphasized the importance of the state’s participation in promoting local products and empowering small and medium enterprises. “Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to expanding trade opportunities for our people is evident in the consistent support we receive to showcase Oyo State’s creative industry, agro-value chain, and manufacturing capacity at platforms like this,” Adebisi stated. “We are here to tell Nigeria and the world that Oyo State is open for business.”
The Oyo State pavilion, which is currently under construction, has been allocated a 400-square-meter space to exhibit the impressive range of high-quality products produced in the state. Mr. Olajide Okesade, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, assured that the pavilion would stand out once completed, reflecting the state’s cultural creativity and industrial capacity.
“This trade fair is not just about showcasing products; it’s about creating opportunities for networking, business expansion, and investment partnerships,” Okesade added.
As the fair continues, the Oyo State pavilion is expected to become one of the most vibrant attractions, embodying the strength, innovation, and resilience of Oyo State entrepreneurs. The event serves as a crucial platform for promoting local industries and enhancing the state’s contribution to national trade development.
With the trade fair still ongoing, attendees are encouraged to explore the diverse offerings from Oyo State and engage with local entrepreneurs driving the state’s economic growth.
