Samuel Alito deems himself sufficiently impartial, according to his own decision

Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. Skips Biden’s Inauguration: What Happened Next?

Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. made headlines for skipping Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, 2021, citing public health risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, a new detail emerged over the weekend when The Washington Post’s Robert Barnes showed up at Alito’s house and encountered an upside-down flag outside.

Martha-Ann Alito, the justice’s wife, explained that the flag was “an international signal of distress” and denied that it was a political protest. This revelation came amidst a neighborhood dispute, including homemade signs reading “Trump Is a Fascist” and “You Are Complicit” placed by a neighbor down the street.

Alito later sent a letter to Senators Dick Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse, asserting that he saw no need to recuse himself from decisions related to Donald Trump’s post-election efforts. He explained that the flag incident was due to a “nasty neighborhood dispute” in which he had no involvement.

The timeline of events surrounding the flag incident has raised questions about Alito’s involvement and intentions. Despite his efforts to distance himself from the flag’s display, the situation remains murky. Alito’s actions have left many wondering about his true motivations and beliefs, especially in light of his absence from the inauguration and subsequent explanations.
