Police report five people shot in South Sacramento on Memorial Day


5 shot outside Meadowview apartment complex on Memorial Day, Sacramento police say

All five people are expected to survive.

The Memorial Day holiday took a violent turn in Sacramento as five people, including a teenager, were shot outside an apartment complex in the Meadowview neighborhood. The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. on Coral Gables Court near Meadowview Road. Police spokesperson Officer Cody Tapley confirmed that three men, a woman, and a female teenager were injured in the incident, but all five are expected to survive.

As of late Monday night, there was no information on the suspect, with police believing the shooter had fled the scene. Tapley emphasized the importance of anyone with information coming forward to assist in the investigation. The victims were all in close proximity to each other at the time of the shooting.

The scene was described as chaotic, with a large police presence initially and then tapering off as the investigation progressed. The crime scene tape has since been taken down, but the investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as they become available.
