American billionaire plans expedition to explore Titanic wreck in submersible

Explorers Plan to Dive to Titanic Wreck in Private Submersible

Ohio tycoon Larry Connor and deep-sea explorer Patrick Lahey are teaming up for an ambitious expedition to explore the Titanic wreck in the North Atlantic Ocean. The duo plans to dive to a depth of around 3,800m in a submersible called the Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer.

This announcement comes in the wake of a tragic incident last year, where five people lost their lives when a vessel built by OceanGate imploded en route to the Titanic. The private submersible industry was deeply affected by this disaster, with operations being suspended and interest in deep-sea exploration waning.

Larry Connor, known for his adventurous spirit, expressed his desire to showcase the beauty and wonder of the ocean while emphasizing the importance of safety in such expeditions. The proposed voyage will only take place once the vessel is fully certified by a marine organization, with no specific timeframe set for the expedition.

Patrick Lahey, co-founder of Triton Submarines, hopes that a successful dive to the Titanic wreck will reignite interest in deep-sea exploration and revive the private submersible industry. The pair previously ventured to the Challenger Deep and the Sirena Deep in the Mariana Trench, showcasing their passion for exploration and discovery.

As preparations for the expedition continue, the world waits in anticipation to see if Connor and Lahey will successfully reach the depths of the ocean to uncover the mysteries of the Titanic wreck. Stay tuned for updates on this thrilling adventure into the unknown.
