Deendayal Port Authority Sets New Record with 81,024 Tonnes of Coal Discharged in 24 Hours

New Delhi, November 23 (ANI) — In a remarkable achievement, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla has set a new benchmark by discharging an impressive 81,024 tonnes of coal within just 24 hours from the vessel M.V. MARATHOS at Cargo Berth No. 7. This milestone marks the highest single-day coal discharge ever recorded at the port, showcasing DPA Kandla’s commitment to operational excellence and maritime efficiency.

The record-breaking operation, completed with exceptional speed and precision, underscores DPA Kandla’s status as India’s premier major port for cargo handling. Port authorities attributed this success to seamless coordination among various teams involved in the operation, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in achieving such significant milestones.

Just days prior, on November 17, DPA Kandla had already made headlines by handling 40 ships in a single day, surpassing its previous record of 38 ships set in December 2023. These consecutive achievements highlight the port’s increasing efficiency and capability to manage large volumes of cargo smoothly.

In a statement on X, the DPA Kandla celebrated the coal discharge record, calling it a “benchmark of unmatched speed, precision & teamwork.” The port authority expressed pride in this accomplishment, which reflects its operational excellence and leadership in the maritime sector.

The successful discharge operation was made possible through the collaboration of several key partners, including Shree Ashapura Stevedores, Seascape Shipping Agency India Pvt Ltd, Shri Balaji Infraport, and Balaji Malts Private Limited. Their coordinated efforts ensured that the operation was completed within a tight timeframe, demonstrating the port’s ability to handle heavy vessel movements without delays.

Port officials noted that the earlier achievement of managing 40 ships in a single day also relied on meticulous planning and continuous monitoring to prevent congestion and ensure safety. This level of operational efficiency is crucial for maintaining the port’s reputation and enhancing its capacity to serve the growing demands of maritime trade.

Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman of DPA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders, including port users, trade unions, employees, and the dedicated workforce, whose cooperation made these feats possible. He commended the exemplary efforts of the Traffic Manager, Deputy Conservator, and the entire operational teams, including DPA Pilots, for their unwavering dedication.

As DPA Kandla continues to break records and set new standards in cargo handling, it reinforces its position as a vital hub in India’s maritime landscape, paving the way for future growth and efficiency in the sector.
