Starlink Outage Resolved: Services Back Up

Billionaire Elon Musk’s satellite internet platform Starlink experienced a major outage on May 29, affecting thousands of users. The outage, which lasted for at least an hour, impacted over 41,000 users, according to data from Downdetector.com. However, Starlink has since confirmed that the network issue has been fully resolved.

Starlink, a subsidiary of Musk’s SpaceX, is a dominant player in the satellite internet business, owning close to 60% of the nearly 7,500 satellites orbiting Earth. Competitors in this segment include OneWeb, Telesat, Viasat, and others.

Despite the recent outage, Starlink has been making significant strides in its expansion plans. The company recently crossed 3 million users in 99 countries and has been focusing on expanding its services in Asia. Musk visited Indonesia to launch the Starlink satellite internet service and has been in discussions with Sri Lanka’s President about potential opportunities for Starlink services in the country.

While Musk was scheduled to visit India a month ago to make announcements about a $2-3 billion electric vehicle factory and developments related to Starlink, the trip was cancelled due to his “heavy obligations.” However, Musk has expressed his intention to visit India later this year.
