Ghana’s New Ambassador to Togo Assumes Office in Grand Ceremony
Lomé, Togo – November 12, 2025 – In a ceremony steeped in military tradition and diplomatic significance, Captain George Nfodjoh (Rtd) has officially taken up his role as Ghana’s Ambassador to Togo. The event, held at the Presidential Palace in Lomé, saw Capt Nfodjoh present his letter of credence to President Jean-Lucien Savi de Tové, marking a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between the two neighboring nations.
The ceremony, which took place just two weeks after Capt Nfodjoh’s arrival in Togo, was characterized by a ceremonial guard and military fanfare, reflecting the importance of this diplomatic engagement. Surrounded by senior government officials and dignitaries, the atmosphere was one of celebration and mutual respect.
In his remarks following the formalities, Capt Nfodjoh expressed his honor in representing Ghana and emphasized his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. “Ghana and Togo share historic bonds, and my focus is to deepen these ties for the benefit of our people,” he stated, underscoring the shared history and aspirations of the two nations.
The ceremony was not only significant for Ghana but also for Togo, as it featured the simultaneous accreditation of two other Commonwealth envoys—the High Commissioners of Canada and Pakistan. This highlighted Togo’s ongoing engagement with Commonwealth partners and its commitment to fostering international relations.
Professor Robert Dussey, Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Capt Nfodjoh warmly, reiterating the importance of collaboration between the two countries. “Our nations are linked by geography and shared aspirations. We welcome Ghana’s new envoy with optimism,” he remarked, setting a positive tone for future diplomatic endeavors.
With his accreditation now complete, Capt Nfodjoh is poised to embark on a mission aimed at enhancing political, economic, and security collaboration between Accra and Lomé. As he steps into this pivotal role, both nations look forward to a strengthened partnership that promises to benefit their citizens.
As Ghana and Togo continue to navigate the complexities of regional and global challenges, Capt Nfodjoh’s leadership is expected to play a crucial role in fostering unity and cooperation in West Africa.
