Democratic Convention to Highlight Commitment to America’s Strength and Security
The Democratic Party is set to highlight America’s strength and commitment to supporting the military, veterans, and the rule of law on the final night of the convention. According to a Harris campaign official, the party will showcase its values by featuring speakers who have served in the military and law enforcement, while emphasizing the threat that President Trump poses to the nation’s freedoms and security.
Former defense secretary and CIA director Leon Panetta is scheduled to speak, along with other veterans such as former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger and Rep. Ruben Gallego, a former Marine corporal. The campaign official also highlighted Vice President Harris’ dedication to the rule of law and her running mate Governor Walz’s 24 years of service to the nation.
Campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez emphasized the stark contrast between the Democratic ticket’s commitment to security and service compared to President Trump’s disrespect for the military. The campaign plans to engage and mobilize millions of veterans and military families across the country, showcasing the progress made for veterans under Harris and Biden’s leadership.
As the convention comes to a close, the Democratic Party aims to reinforce its message of strength, service, and respect for the nation’s defenders, while contrasting it with the current administration’s record on military issues.
