Mikie Sherrill Launches NJ Small Business Tour: A Commitment to Supporting Local Entrepreneurs

Mikie Sherrill Launches NJ Small Business Tour to Address Economic Challenges

Bloomfield, NJ — August 28, 2025 — In a bid to bolster New Jersey’s small business landscape, gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill kicked off her “Save You Time and Money Agenda Tour” yesterday, engaging with local entrepreneurs across the state. The tour, which made stops in Edison, Clarksboro, and Haddonfield, aims to spotlight Sherrill’s proposals for reducing bureaucratic hurdles and lowering operational costs for small businesses.

“Trenton has been stuck in a culture of ‘no’ for too long,” Sherrill asserted during her visits. “As governor, I will prioritize customer service, transparency, and accountability in our state agencies. My focus will be on lowering costs, creating good-paying jobs, and fostering business growth.”

Sherrill’s remarks come in the wake of rising concerns over tariffs and regulatory delays that have been squeezing small business owners. Raj Patel, co-owner of Patel Brothers grocery store, voiced his frustrations, stating, “Donald Trump’s tariffs are driving up prices for everyday goods. Mikie Sherrill has a plan to help us lower costs and expand our store. We need a governor who will stand up for us, not contribute to rising expenses.”

The tour resonated with many small business leaders who echoed Patel’s sentiments. Charles Garrity, founder of Death of the Fox Brewing, highlighted the financial strain caused by tariffs, stating, “We’re paying an additional $3,000–$5,000 for coffee beans every month due to politics, not economics. Mikie’s plan to cut red tape will save us money and improve our bottom line.”

Julie Beddingfield, owner of Inkwood Books, shared her own struggles with local permitting systems. “It took me three months just to get a permit for a sign. If I had a checklist of requirements, it would have saved me hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars,” she lamented. “Mikie’s agenda will help new business owners avoid the nightmare I went through.”

Throughout her tour, Sherrill emphasized her commitment to ensuring that small businesses not only survive but thrive in New Jersey. By advocating for reduced costs and streamlined processes, she aims to create a more favorable environment for entrepreneurs and families alike.

As the gubernatorial race heats up, Sherrill’s focus on small businesses may resonate with voters looking for practical solutions to economic challenges. With her “Save You Time and Money Agenda,” she hopes to shift the narrative in Trenton and restore New Jersey’s legacy as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship.
