Massive Viewership for Charlie Kirk’s Memorial Service: Over 22 Million and Counting

Memorial for Charlie Kirk Draws Over 22 Million Views Across Platforms

Glendale, AZ – The memorial service for Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative activist tragically killed on September 10, has captivated audiences nationwide, amassing over 22 million views across cable news channels, YouTube, and social media platforms. This figure, which has surged by 10% in just two days, reflects the profound impact Kirk had on his supporters and the broader political landscape.

According to updated Nielsen figures, approximately 5.9 million viewers tuned into the five-hour memorial service, which featured poignant speeches from notable figures including former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The event, held in Glendale, Arizona, drew a staggering crowd of over 200,000 attendees, all gathered to pay their respects to Kirk, who was fatally shot during a university event in Utah.

Fox News emerged as the dominant force in cable news viewership, attracting 5.2 million viewers during the memorial. At its peak, during a heartfelt speech by Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, viewership soared to 6.6 million. Her emotional address, in which she forgave her husband’s killer, resonated deeply with audiences, drawing in over 1 million viewers from the coveted 25 to 54 demographic.

Fox News maintained an impressive 89% share of the cable news audience throughout its special coverage, marking a record-breaking moment for Sunday cable viewership, according to Nielsen.

In contrast, CNN and MSNBC struggled to capture the same level of interest. CNN reported just 372,000 viewers during its coverage, while MSNBC, which is set to undergo a rebranding, attracted only 260,000 viewers.

The memorial’s reach extended far beyond traditional television. Livestreams on platforms like YouTube, including those from Kirk’s official page and major news outlets, have collectively garnered over 12.5 million views. Kirk’s official YouTube account alone accounted for 7.8 million views, while Fox News and the Associated Press contributed 2.6 million and 1.3 million views, respectively.

Local Fox News stations also played a significant role in amplifying the memorial’s reach, with their YouTube livestreams accumulating over 1.6 million views combined. Erika Kirk’s emotional speech has been particularly popular, racking up 2.5 million views on ABC News’ YouTube account and 1.7 million views on the X account for Turning Point USA, the organization founded by her late husband.

As the numbers continue to climb, the memorial for Charlie Kirk not only serves as a tribute to a young life cut short but also highlights the enduring influence of his message within the conservative movement.
