Prime Minister Narendra Modi hails “BioE3” policy approved by Union Cabinet
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the approval of the “BioE3” policy by the Union Cabinet, calling it a groundbreaking initiative that will drive scientific, industrial, and societal progress in the future. The policy, officially known as Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment, aims to promote high-performance bio-manufacturing within the Department of Biotechnology.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that the BioE3 policy will provide support for innovation-driven research and development, as well as entrepreneurship across various thematic sectors. Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the policy on social media, emphasizing its potential to foster advancements in science, industry, and society, while also promoting environmental conservation and job creation.
In addition to the BioE3 policy, Modi also praised the Vigyan Dhara scheme, which aims to stimulate innovation and scientific research among young minds. The scheme, approved by the Union Cabinet, consolidates three umbrella schemes of the Department of Science and Technology into a unified central sector scheme. With an allocated budget of Rs 10,579 crore during the 15th Finance Commission period, Vigyan Dhara focuses on enhancing institutional and human capacity building, research and development, as well as innovation and technology deployment.
Overall, these initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to promoting scientific and technological advancements in India, positioning the country as a global leader in research and innovation.
