Empowering Entrepreneurs: Highlights from the Inaugural Clover x Shark Tank Summit in Las Vegas
Entrepreneurs Thrive at Inaugural Clover x Shark Tank Summit in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV – The Venetian Resort buzzed with excitement as eager entrepreneurs and small business owners gathered for the first-ever Clover x Shark Tank Summit, a groundbreaking event designed to inspire and empower the next generation of business leaders. Hosted by Clover’s Chief Empowerment Officer, Tabitha Brown, the summit celebrated 17 seasons of the beloved show “Shark Tank,” bringing together past and present Sharks for an unforgettable experience.
The event featured a star-studded lineup of Sharks, including Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Daniel Lubetsky, and Robert Herjavec, alongside next-gen guest Sharks Allison Ellsworth and Rashuan Williams. Attendees were treated to panels, live pitches, and informative sessions focused on critical topics such as branding, marketing, and the transformative power of artificial intelligence.
Among the attendees was Jazzmonae Lockett, founder of Zion’s Crown hair care, who shared her journey of creating a regrowth oil to address postpartum hair loss. “I came to learn the numbers,” Lockett said, emphasizing her desire to manage finances effectively as her business grows.
Rashawnda Wright, inspired by years of watching “Shark Tank,” created Cap Creations, custom inserts that allow individuals with diverse hair to wear graduation caps comfortably. Although she hasn’t yet appeared on the show, the summit provided her with invaluable connections, including gifting one of her patented inserts to Tabitha Brown.
The summit kicked off with a live podcast featuring “Shark Tank” veteran Robert Herjavec, who shared insights on the importance of self-belief in entrepreneurship. “If you’re going to build a great business, or do anything in life, you have to have the ability to believe in yourself,” he told the audience.
Day 2 featured the “Swim With Your Pack” panel, highlighting the significance of community in business strategy. Jay Bailey, CEO of the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, challenged the notion of categorizing Black business owners as a “minority,” emphasizing the global potential of diverse entrepreneurs.
Rashuan Williams concluded the day with a dynamic session on “startup school,” sharing his FITT Test for evaluating investments, which focuses on Founder, Integrity, Team, and Traction. “You need to be able to see whether or not a person can get traction based on the very little that they do have,” he explained.
The summit culminated in “The Final Pitch,” where three small businesses competed for investments from Sharks Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, and Tabitha Brown. Sweet Encounter Bakery, Mended Textiles, and Plant Zaddy each had 90 seconds to impress the Sharks, ultimately winning $35,000 each to fuel their growth.
Daymond John expressed his hopes for future events, envisioning live tapings of “Shark Tank” in front of thousands. “I want to see an audience of 5,000 people quiet. Hear a pin drop. To see somebody put their absolute dreams right on the line,” he said.
The Clover x Shark Tank Summit not only provided a platform for entrepreneurs to connect and learn but also reinforced the belief that with the right mindset and community support, success is within reach for all.
