Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Honored with Distinguished Service Award
Lake Charles, LA — In a commendable recognition of dedication and excellence, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Detective Steffan Weekly has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Law Enforcement Officer Distinguished Service Award by the Louisiana Bankers Association. This accolade highlights his unwavering commitment to tackling complex financial crimes that often require extensive investigation and patience.
Sheriff Stitch Guillory praised Detective Weekly’s relentless efforts, stating, “Financial crimes can be long and complicated cases that take a lot of time and patience. Detective Weekly has shown he’s willing to put in that work to get results and arrests. His work truly makes a difference for the people in our community, and I am proud to have him here at CPSO.”
Each year, the Louisiana Bankers Association honors outstanding law enforcement officers who assist banks in investigating financial crimes. Detective Weekly was one of only four recipients selected for this honor, nominated by bankers from across the state.

Joey Sedlock has been appointed as the manager of the Moss Bluff Branch of CSE Federal Credit Union. With 17 years of experience in financial institutions, including a decade in management, Sedlock is poised to enhance branch performance and member success. He holds a bachelor’s degree from McNeese State University and a master’s degree from Southwestern Seminary.
Lake Charles Memorial Health System Welcomes New Physician
Nusrat Kabir, MD, has joined the medical staff at Lake Charles Memorial Health System, bringing a wealth of knowledge in preventive medicine. Dr. Kabir earned her medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College in Bangladesh and completed her residency in Preventive Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is currently accepting new patients at Memorial Family Medicine on Aster Street.
Celebrating Excellence in Hospitality
Visit Lake Charles has announced the winners of the 2025 ROSE (Recognition of Service Excellence) Awards, honoring eight hospitality professionals who exemplify outstanding service. The awards recognize individuals across various categories, including Ryan Fogleman for Outstanding Banquet/Catering Professional and Melody Richard for Outstanding Bartender.
Additionally, Legacy Awards were presented to community leaders who have significantly contributed to tourism in the region, including John Ieyoub, former District D Lake Charles City Councilman, and Stella Miller, founding executive director of the Black Heritage Gallery.
Sheriff’s Office Captain Graduates from FBI Academy
In a significant achievement, Travis Lavergne, Specialized Investigations Captain at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, has graduated from the 294th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Lavergne was among 239 law enforcement officers to complete the rigorous 10-week program, which focuses on advanced investigative and leadership training.
Women’s Center at WCCH Earns Birth Ready Designation
Lastly, the Women’s Center at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital has once again earned the Louisiana Birth Ready Designation for 2025. This recognition is awarded to hospitals that implement evidence-based practices aimed at improving birth outcomes for mothers and babies, demonstrating a commitment to quality care and community health.
