Ukraine Strikes Key Fuel Pipeline Near Moscow, Delivering a Major Blow to Russian Military Logistics

November 1, 2025

In a significant escalation of its ongoing conflict with Russia, Ukrainian forces have successfully targeted a crucial fuel pipeline in the Moscow region, which is vital for supplying the Russian military. The operation, carried out late Friday, has been described by Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, HUR, as a “serious blow” to Russia’s military logistics.

The pipeline, spanning approximately 250 miles, is responsible for transporting gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel to Russian forces. HUR reported that all three fuel lines were destroyed in the strike, which took place near the Ramensky district.

Kyrylo Budanov, head of HUR, emphasized the impact of the operation, stating, “Our strikes have had more impact than sanctions,” referring to the international sanctions imposed on Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

This latest strike is part of a broader campaign by Ukraine, which has reportedly targeted nearly 160 oil extraction and refining facilities across Russia in 2025 alone. According to Vasyl Maliuk, head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), at least 20 of these strikes occurred in September and October, underscoring a concerted effort to disrupt the financial backbone of Russia’s military operations.

“These are legitimate military targets. Oil extraction and refining make up around 90 percent of Russia’s defense budget. These are the dirty petro-rubles funding the war against us,” Maliuk stated during a recent press briefing.

As the conflict continues to escalate, the situation remains dire for civilians on both sides. Reports indicate that at least four civilians were killed and 48 others injured in Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past day. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 223 attack drones overnight, with air defenses successfully intercepting 206 of them.

In the face of these challenges, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to secure necessary funds for gas imports, ensuring that energy prices remain stable for citizens. He thanked international allies for their ongoing support amid targeted strikes on energy infrastructure across Ukraine.

As the war drags on, the stakes continue to rise, with both nations engaged in a relentless battle for control and resources. The recent pipeline strike marks a pivotal moment in Ukraine’s strategy to undermine Russian military capabilities while highlighting the ongoing humanitarian toll of the conflict.
