VEMO Unveils Mexico City’s Largest Public EV Charging Hub
San Pedro de los Pinos, Mexico City – In a landmark move for sustainable transportation, Mexican clean mobility company VEMO has officially inaugurated the country’s largest public urban electric vehicle (EV) charging hub. Located in San Pedro de los Pinos, this state-of-the-art facility boasts 104 connectors and an impressive installed capacity of 6.2 megawatts (MW), marking a significant leap in Mexico’s EV infrastructure.
Carlos Levy, Director of the VEMO Charging Network, emphasized the hub’s dual purpose, stating, “This hub is a key reference point for electromobility open to the general public and companies seeking charging options for their electric fleets.” Currently, 44 of the 104 connectors are operational, with plans to deploy the remaining units in phases. The facility operates around the clock and offers amenities such as a waiting area, cafeteria, restrooms, security, and high-speed internet.
This new hub complements the VEMO Charging Network (VCN), which already operates over 1,200 connectors across 18 Mexican states. Users can easily locate stations and manage their charging sessions through the Watts by VEMO app, which provides payment options, support access, and real-time monitoring.
Levy also highlighted VEMO’s recent US$250 million investment led by Vision Ridge Partners, a global sustainable infrastructure investor. “This support allows us to expand our public charging network and strengthen Mexico’s electric mobility infrastructure,” he noted.
To date, VEMO has raised over US$500 million—comprising US$350 million in equity and US$150 million in debt—from a consortium of investors including Vision Ridge Partners, Riverstone Holdings, and others. The company has ambitious plans to invest more than US$1.5 billion over the next five years to enhance clean mobility across Mexico and Latin America.
Looking ahead, VEMO projects the establishment of 23,000 connectors across its public and private networks, alongside an estimated 55,000 EVs by 2030. According to the Electro Movilidad Association (EMA), sales of EVs and plug-in hybrids in Mexico surged by 50% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2025, while public charging points increased by 20%.
As Mexico embraces the future of transportation, VEMO’s new charging hub stands as a beacon of progress, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable urban landscape.
