Tracking Memorial Day Storms and Weather Alert Day: Heat, Humidity, and Storms to Start the Week, Turning Pleasant by Late Week

As Memorial Day approaches, residents in eastern North Carolina are advised to stay weather aware as StormTrack 12 meteorologists are tracking a few storms that could impact the region. A Weather Alert Day has been issued for Monday, with hot and humid conditions expected throughout the day.

The forecast for Monday includes temperatures reaching into the high 80s to low 90s inland, with heat indices near 100. Variably cloudy skies are expected with isolated to scattered storms possible, especially in the afternoon and evening. Residents are urged to stay prepared for severe weather, as isolated storms could bring damaging winds, hail, heavy rain, and even a brief tornado.

Mariners are also advised to exercise caution, as a Small Craft Advisory is in effect until Tuesday morning. Seas will be around 2-4 feet with south/southwest winds at 15-25 knots. High tide is at 10:47 am and low tide is at 4:33 pm.

As the week progresses, temperatures are expected to remain warm and muggy, with the possibility of isolated showers on Tuesday. However, by late week, a shift in weather patterns will bring cooler and less humid conditions to the region.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the latest weather information through News 12, wcti12.com, the StormTrack 12 weather app, and social media platforms. With Hurricane Season beginning on June 1, it’s important to stay informed and prepared for any potential tropical developments in the Atlantic Basin.
