Lock Haven Gears Up for Haven Holidays and Small Business Saturdays

LOCK HAVEN — As the holiday season approaches, the excitement in downtown Lock Haven is palpable. In just a few days, the community will come alive with festive cheer as it prepares for one of the most anticipated shopping events of the year: Small Business Saturdays.

While many local businesses will participate in Black Friday festivities, the true magic is set to unfold on Saturday, November 29. East Main Street will transform into a bustling hub of holiday shopping, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to support local entrepreneurs while checking off their holiday gift lists.

Downtown Lock Haven, Inc. is set to kick off its annual Haven Holidays event, inviting everyone to shop local this season. “Small Business Saturdays in Lock Haven are crucial for our local businesses, who thrive on the support of the community they call home,” said DLH Board President Laura Jameson. “Every dollar you spend here in Lock Haven supports those who own and work at these stores and, in turn, is filtered right back into the Clinton County community.”

With the guidance of the non-profit’s board of directors and new manager, Rick Schulze, this year’s Haven Holidays promises to be a memorable one. From November 29 through December 20, participating businesses will offer a variety of deals on gifts, stocking stuffers, and more, making it the perfect opportunity to find unique items while supporting the local economy.

In addition to shopping, families can enjoy special activities throughout the day. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., children and families can have their photos taken with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and even some reindeer in the East Main Street Parking Lot. The photos, courtesy of AP Photos, are free, although donations are welcomed.

For those looking to simplify their holiday preparations, a complimentary gift-wrapping service will be available at the Downtown Lock Haven office, located at 205 E. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Shoppers can bring in receipts from local businesses and have their purchases wrapped free of charge, with donations to DLH appreciated.

As the sun sets, the festivities will continue with the annual Haven Holidays parade, kicking off at 6 p.m. Following the parade, Lafayette Lodge #199 F&AM will host a tree lighting ceremony in Triangle Park, where attendees can enjoy hot chocolate provided by lodge members.
