Marine Tech Company Expands Headquarters in Slidell, Creating Jobs and Innovating Industry

Beier Integrated Systems, a marine tech company based in Slidell, has announced a $1.8 million expansion to its headquarters. The expansion will add 15,000 square feet to its facility, allowing the company to retain 30 existing jobs and create five to 10 new jobs next year, each with an annual salary of $80,000.

The 79-year-old company specializes in building custom electronic systems for government and private vessels. They have worked on projects for NOAA research vessels, Coast Guard cutters, and are currently involved in designing a state-of-the-art tugboat that will run on hydrogen fuel.

In collaboration with DARPA, Beier is also working on designing fully self-driving boats for a project called NOMARS. CEO Ben Todd emphasized the importance of technology on boats, comparing them to floating cities that need to be self-sufficient and safe for navigation.

The company’s dedication to innovation and technology has been recognized by local officials, with St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper and St. Tammany Corporation CEO Chris Masingill praising Beier’s investment in the community.

With a long history in the New Orleans area, Beier Integrated Systems continues to evolve and adapt to the changing demands of the marine tech industry. Their expansion and commitment to cutting-edge technology showcase their dedication to growth and success in the field.
