Beyoncé’s Cécred Launches Five-Product Hair Care Line for Protective Styles This August

Introducing Cécred’s New Protection Collection: Elevate Your Hair Care for Protective Styles

Cécred Launches Innovative Protection Collection for Protective Hairstyles

August 25, 2023 — In a groundbreaking move for hair care, Cécred has unveiled its new Protection Collection, specifically designed for individuals who wear protective hairstyles and extensions. This five-item line, which debuted today, continues the brand’s commitment to innovation since its launch in February 2024.

The collection features a range of products priced between $28 and $48, including a Detoxifying Shampoo and Scalp Refreshing Spray, both at $38, a luxurious Oil Ritual for $48, a Detangling Spray for $28, and a nourishing Hair & Scalp Balm priced at $36. Each product is infused with the brand’s proprietary PhytoFerment technology, aimed at enhancing nutrient absorption and promoting scalp health.

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother and Cécred’s vice chairwoman, shared her personal connection to the collection. “This collection is very personal for my daughter because she’s lived these challenges her whole life,” Knowles stated in an interview with Forbes. Having experienced the trials of wigs, weaves, and braids throughout her career, she recognized the need for effective hair care solutions. “Like so many of us, she had to experiment, mixing up her own remedies because the right products didn’t serve.”

The new line addresses common hair care issues associated with protective styles. Knowles reflected on her experiences, saying, “Touring with Beyoncé, even back in the Destiny’s Child days, I saw so much damage related to the take-down of protective styles.” She emphasized the frustration of prioritizing the aesthetic of protective styles over their maintenance, noting a significant gap in the market for effective care products.

Robyn Watkins, Senior VP of product development, highlighted the inspiration behind the collection’s key ingredients. “Our latest technology innovation is inspired by herbalism’s rich history and the science of plants and their medicinal properties,” she explained. The PhytoFerment technology pays homage to herbalists, the original pharmacists in many African American and Native communities.

Each product is enveloped in a fresh scent called Nocturne Spice, featuring notes of pink pepper, vanilla, cardamom, tonka bean, and oud. The striking Lapis blue bottles draw inspiration from historical art, where Lapis Lazuli was used to accentuate hair details.

Cécred’s rapid ascent in the beauty industry is evident, with the brand filing for 16 patents on its tools and methods and receiving 52 awards in just one year. As Knowles expressed, “This collection is about chasing down this white space we’ve known existed for so long, and finally giving people the advanced care and confidence we all deserve.”

For those eager to try the new Protection Collection, products are available at cecred.com and will soon be stocked in Ulta Beauty stores this fall.
