UPSA Celebrates Golden Jubilee with Graduation of 1,863 Students

Accra, Ghana – The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) marked a significant milestone on September 26, 2025, as it celebrated its golden jubilee and conferred degrees and diplomas to 1,863 students during the first session of its seventeenth congregation.

The ceremony was a momentous occasion, with 1,640 graduates hailing from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies and 223 from the prestigious UPSA Law School. This year’s graduation is part of a larger event, with a total of 5,664 students expected to graduate across four sessions.

In his inaugural address to the congregation, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, praised the hard work and resilience of the students. He highlighted the challenges they faced, including adapting to online learning and navigating tight deadlines, often completing assignments on their smartphones.

“Through it all, you stood firm. Today, your perseverance has paid off, and we are proud of you,” Professor Mawutor stated, emphasizing that their achievements reflect not only personal triumphs but also the collective support of faculty and staff.

Dr. Harry Lawson Kwaku Agbanu, Chairman of the UPSA Governing Council, urged the graduates to embody the values of the university as they step into the world. “Be good ambassadors of UPSA,” he implored, reminding them of the responsibility that comes with their new qualifications.

Adding to the encouragement, Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, Acting Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), advised the graduates to uphold integrity and seek mentorship as they embark on their professional journeys. “Do not undermine your potentials,” he urged, reinforcing the importance of self-belief and ethical conduct.

As the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation for the future, as graduates celebrated their achievements with family and friends. The event not only honored academic accomplishments but also served as a testament to the resilience and innovation that UPSA instills in its students.

With the golden jubilee celebration, UPSA continues to pave the way for future generations, fostering leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern world.
