Resident Evil Film Welcomes Severance Star Zach Cherry to the Cast

Exciting New Additions to the Cast of Sony’s Resident Evil Reboot

New Blood Joins the Cast of Sony’s ‘Resident Evil’ Reboot

In an exciting development for fans of the horror genre, the cast of Sony Pictures’ upcoming Resident Evil reboot has expanded to include Severance breakout Zach Cherry, True Detective co-star Kali Reis, and Johnno Wilson from I Love That for You. Directed by Zach Cregger, this fresh take on the iconic franchise promises to pay homage to the original Capcom video games while introducing a host of new characters.

Leading the charge is Austin Abrams, who garnered attention this summer for his compelling performance as an unhoused drug addict in Cregger’s hit film Weapons. This new installment is set to diverge from previous adaptations, focusing on a narrative that intertwines a hapless courier, a mysterious package, mutated creatures, and a corporate conspiracy.

While plot details remain under wraps, insiders reveal that Cherry will portray a scientist at a hospital, while Reis takes on the role of an ex-military character originally written for a male actor. Wilson’s character details are still a mystery, adding an air of intrigue to the project.

Filming is slated to begin in mid-October in Prague, with a theatrical release scheduled for September 18, 2026. The film is being produced by Constantin Film, with Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan at the helm. Executive producers include Constantin’s Oliver Berben and Victor Hadida of Davis Films, with TriStar Pictures’ president Nicole Brown overseeing the project for Sony.

Zach Cherry, who received an Emmy nomination for his role as Dylan George in Apple TV’s Severance, has also appeared in Amazon’s Fallout and the blockbuster Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Kali Reis, a professional boxing champion turned actress, made waves with her performance in True Detective and has several upcoming projects, including Mercy alongside Chris Pratt and 12 12 12 with Anthony Mackie. Johnno Wilson, known for his comedic background, has appeared in Twisted Metal and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

With a talented cast and a fresh vision, the Resident Evil reboot is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to the franchise. Fans eagerly await what horrors and surprises await them in this new cinematic journey.
