BASF’s Personal Care Division Introduces Ameriflor Calm

Discover Ameriflor Calm: A Revolutionary Botanical Solution for Sensitive Skin Resilience

Harnessing Nature and Science for Effective Skin Care

New Botanical Active Promises to Restore Resilience in Sensitive Skin

In a groundbreaking development for skincare, BASF has unveiled Ameriflor Calm, a new botanical active designed to help sensitive skin regain its resilience. With sensitive skin affecting up to 70% of women and 60% of men globally, this innovative ingredient aims to address a widespread concern in the beauty industry.

Lucilene Veira-Nunes, Global Business Management representative for Beauty Care Solutions at BASF, emphasizes the importance of transparency and efficacy in today’s market. “Ameriflor Calm reduces the appearance of redness, supports skin barrier function, and strengthens resistance to environmental stressors,” she explains. This product seamlessly merges Indigenous plant-based knowledge from the Americas with cutting-edge scientific techniques, offering a holistic approach to skincare.

Harnessing Nature’s Wisdom

At the heart of Ameriflor Calm is the Self-Heal plant (Prunella vulgaris), a resilient botanical that has been utilized in traditional practices by Indigenous nations, including the Nitassinan, Catawba, Cherokee, and Algonquin-speaking communities. Clinical studies have shown promising results: participants applying the ingredient at a 1% concentration over 28 days experienced a 10% improvement in skin redness after just one week, significantly outperforming a placebo. Additionally, trans-epidermal water loss improved by 11% after the same period, highlighting the ingredient’s efficacy.

Commitment to Sustainability

Beyond its skincare benefits, Ameriflor Calm reflects BASF’s dedication to sustainability and ethical sourcing. The ingredient is responsibly sourced from regenerative organic farms in Oregon, certified by the Regenerative Organic Alliance. This commitment ensures full traceability, fair labor practices, and environmental stewardship.

Moreover, Ameriflor Calm is produced at a facility powered by 100% renewable electricity, contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions and promoting environmental resilience. This aligns with BASF’s Responsibly Active program, which focuses on bioactive cosmetic ingredients that are both effective and sustainable.

A New Era for Sensitive Skin

As consumers increasingly seek products that are not only effective but also ethically sourced, Ameriflor Calm stands out as a promising solution for those struggling with sensitive skin. With its blend of traditional wisdom and modern science, this innovative botanical active could redefine skincare for millions around the globe.

For those looking to enhance their skincare routine, Ameriflor Calm may just be the breakthrough ingredient that sensitive skin has been waiting for.
