Community Comes Together for Back-to-School Bash
Chicago, IL – As the 2025-26 school year approaches with an earlier start date, many families are feeling the financial strain of preparing their children for the first day of school. To help alleviate some of this burden, Acclivus, Inc., a community violence intervention leader, is hosting a Back to School Party on Sunday, August 17. This event promises to provide essential services to youth aged 5–17, including free haircuts, hairstyling, backpacks, and school supplies at seven local barbershops and salons.
The event, organized in partnership with 3rd Ward Alderman Pat Dowell and State Senator Mattie Hunter, aims to boost the confidence of young students as they step into a new academic year. “We want to ensure that every child feels prepared and excited for school,” said a representative from Acclivus. “This event is not just about supplies; it’s about community support and empowerment.”
