The Magnificent Jeddah Tower: A Symbol of Growth and Innovation
The Jeddah Tower, formerly known as Kingdom Tower, is set to become the central landmark of the $20 billion Kingdom City project in Jeddah. With an estimated construction cost of $1.2 billion, this mixed-use building will feature a luxury hotel, office space, serviced apartments, luxury condominiums, and the world’s highest observatory.
Designed by AS+GG, the Jeddah Tower’s architecture is a blend of technology and nature, symbolizing growth and development. The sleek and streamlined form of the tower is inspired by the folded fronds of young desert plant growth, representing new growth fused with technology.
The tower’s design incorporates innovative strategies for energy conservation and sustainability, such as a high-performance exterior wall system and notches on each side to create pockets of shadow. The tower will also feature a sky terrace at level 157, which will be open to the public and considered the world’s highest observatory.
With 59 elevators, including 54 single-deck and five double-deck elevators, the Jeddah Tower will showcase cutting-edge technology. The tower is set to open in 2020, offering breathtaking views of Jeddah and the Red Sea from its outdoor terraces.
Overall, the Jeddah Tower represents a new era in skyscraper design, combining tradition with innovation to achieve new heights in architecture and technology.
