Yeo’s passion for aviation maintenance was sparked during a physics lesson in school. His teacher’s explanation of the theory of flight and the critical role engineers play in ensuring aircraft safety resonated deeply with him. “It made me realize that aviation maintenance is not just about technical work, but about responsibility, safety, and precision,” he recalls. This moment set him on a path that has fueled his career ever since.

A Day in the Life

A typical day for Yeo begins at 8:00 AM with a team meeting where tasks and priorities are discussed. As a Lead Engineer, he oversees ongoing projects, ensuring that all work is performed safely and according to approved procedures. “Hands-on support is often necessary to keep operations running smoothly,” he explains. The day wraps up with a coordination meeting to plan for the next day’s tasks.

Overcoming Extreme Challenges

One of Yeo’s most memorable challenges occurred during an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situation in Northern China, where temperatures plummeted to -19°C. Tasked with replacing a smart probe at a remote airport, he faced not only the technical difficulties of the job but also the harsh weather conditions. “Despite wearing multiple layers, the cold was almost unbearable,” he recalls. The job, which typically takes four hours, stretched to eight as he navigated the frigid environment, but his determination ensured the aircraft was ready for an international departure the next morning.

Commitment to Safety and Reliability

At ExecuJet, safety and reliability are paramount. Yeo emphasizes the importance of adhering to manufacturer-approved manuals and rigorous documentation. “This uniform approach minimizes variability and errors,” he states. The team’s commitment to using specialized tools ensures precision and contributes to the overall safety of the aircraft.

Looking ahead, Yeo is excited about the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) and 3D Illustrated Parts Catalogues (3D IPC) in aircraft maintenance. “This innovative approach enhances accuracy and efficiency, transforming how maintenance tasks are performed,” he notes. The use of interactive digital catalogues allows engineers to visualize complex components, improving training and troubleshooting.
