India to Host Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group Meeting for the First Time
New Delhi, Oct 26: In a landmark event for aviation safety, India is set to host the Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) meeting and workshop for the first time from October 28 to 31. This initiative, announced by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, aims to bolster international cooperation in aircraft accident investigations.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu will inaugurate the four-day event, which will take place in the national capital. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), representing the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is organizing the meeting, which will gather around 90 representatives from various aircraft accident investigation authorities across the Asia-Pacific region, alongside officials from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The APAC-AIG meeting serves as an annual platform for ICAO member states to share expertise, experiences, and information related to aircraft accident and incident investigations. The discussions are expected to enhance regional cooperation and improve the capabilities of countries in effectively investigating aviation incidents.
The first two days of the event will feature a workshop focusing on critical aspects of aircraft accident investigations, including procedures, best practices, and reporting mechanisms. Experts from the AAIB, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and international specialists will lead these sessions.
On October 30 and 31, detailed discussions will take place among representatives from ICAO member states and AAIB officials, aimed at promoting collaboration, developing shared standards, and refining investigation processes across the Asia-Pacific region.
Hosting the APAC-AIG meeting underscores India’s growing role in global aviation safety and its commitment to enhancing investigative capabilities through international partnerships. This event marks a significant step forward in ensuring safer skies for all.
