Blackstone Partners with JUNO to Elevate K-Beauty on a Global Scale

Seoul, South Korea — In a significant move for the beauty industry, Blackstone, the US-based alternative asset management firm, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in JUNO, one of South Korea’s leading premium hair services and hair care brands. The announcement was made on September 2, with reports estimating the deal values JUNO at approximately KRW800 billion (USD 575 million).

While the exact investment sum remains undisclosed, Blackstone’s partnership with JUNO marks a pivotal moment in the brand’s journey, as it aims to expand its global footprint. JUNO’s founder and CEO, Yun-Seon Kang, will continue to lead the company, focusing on enhancing its international presence.

“This marks an important milestone event in JUNO’s journey and reaffirms the confidence we have in the company and our 3,000 JUNO family members,” Kang stated. “We are excited to partner with Blackstone, who shares our vision of delivering exceptional Korean beauty and wellness services to a global audience.”

The partnership comes at a time when private equity firms are increasingly eyeing the booming K-beauty market. Blackstone recognizes the growing demand for Korean cosmetics and wellness services, viewing it as a promising investment theme. “We are seeing explosive global demand for Korean beauty services, and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this trend,” said Sonny Park, Principal of Blackstone Private Equity.

Blackstone’s commitment to supporting family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs is evident in this investment, which marks its fourth private equity venture in South Korea. “JUNO represents our dedication to working with visionary entrepreneurs and supporting their long-term success,” added Eugene Cook, Head of Korea for Blackstone Private Equity.

Founded in 1982, JUNO has established itself as a pioneer in Korean hair artistry, boasting over 180 branches across South Korea and expanding into markets like Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The brand has also formed new master franchise partnerships in Japan and Thailand, further solidifying its international presence.

JUNO is renowned for its innovative hair treatments and signature wellness services, which have become key trends in the K-beauty sector. The company has evolved into an integrated beauty and wellness platform, emphasizing multi-step, prevention-focused hair care. Additionally, the JUNO Academy has gained global recognition for training thousands of stylists, contributing to the brand’s reputation as a leader in the industry.

As Blackstone and JUNO embark on this partnership, the future looks bright for both entities, with the potential to redefine beauty and wellness services on a global scale.
