Transforming IoT Connectivity: Tata Communications and Cisco Join Forces
Tata Communications and Cisco Join Forces to Revolutionize IoT Connectivity
In a groundbreaking partnership, Tata Communications has teamed up with Cisco to redefine the landscape of enterprise IoT connectivity. This strategic collaboration aims to streamline how businesses connect, manage, and scale their IoT devices globally, addressing the persistent challenges that have hindered IoT deployment.
As companies expand their IoT operations, they often grapple with managing vast fleets of devices, from connected vehicles to industrial sensors. Issues such as fragmented SIM hardware, complex device provisioning, and a lack of interoperability across networks have slowed rollouts, increased costs, and limited flexibility. This new alliance seeks to tackle these hurdles head-on.
At the heart of this collaboration is Tata Communications MOVE™, an intelligent global eSIM orchestration solution that boasts over 350 million eSIM Operating Systems (OS) and managed SIM lifecycle capabilities across more than 200 countries. This solution will be integrated into Cisco’s IoT Control Center, a cloud-based device management platform already utilized by over 32,000 enterprises and supporting more than 270 million IoT SIM devices, including 100 million connected cars.
The partnership promises to deliver a host of benefits for enterprises, including:
- Seamless Device Management: Activate and manage devices across various SIM providers and networks with ease.
- Accelerated Time-to-Market: Enjoy a frictionless, unified connectivity experience that speeds up deployment.
- Enhanced Visibility and Control: Gain comprehensive insights across all layers of IoT deployment.
- Reduced Integration Efforts: Avoid vendor lock-ins and simplify the integration process.
Marco Bijvelds, Vice President and Global Head of Tata Communications MOVE™, emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration. “The continuous evolution of eSIM technologies is generating a shift in how enterprises connect and manage their IoT devices. Our partnership with Cisco will empower businesses to unlock new opportunities and accelerate their digital transformation,” he stated.
Industries such as transportation, logistics, and manufacturing stand to benefit significantly from this collaboration. For instance, a trucking company can now activate trailers across borders without the need for local SIM cards, while utility providers can monitor infrastructure seamlessly across private and public networks.
Masum Mir, SVP and GM of Cisco Provider Mobility, echoed Bijvelds’ sentiments, highlighting the importance of eSIM technology in simplifying and automating IoT management. “Together, Cisco and Tata Communications are enabling innovation and opening up new opportunities through our joint work on eSIM technology,” he said.
With this partnership, Cisco and Tata Communications aim to set a new standard for the IoT industry, focusing on interoperability, scalability, and lifecycle intelligence. As they work to empower enterprises worldwide, the future of connected operations looks brighter than ever, paving the way for seamless interactions between people, spaces, and things.
