Aguda, who is currently completing her PhD in Humanities at Faulkner University, brings a wealth of experience from the conservative intellectual movement and a strong commitment to cultural renewal initiatives.
Dustin Bruce, Dean of Boyce College, expressed his enthusiasm for Aguda’s arrival, emphasizing her potential to empower students to express their faith in the public sphere. “I am delighted to have Claire Aguda joining the Boyce College faculty,” Bruce stated. “Her academic expertise and experience within the conservative movement will greatly benefit our students as they prepare to engage the public square as convictional Christians.”
R. Albert Mohler, Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College, echoed Bruce’s sentiments, praising Aguda’s rich background in political thought and engagement. “I am incredibly pleased that Claire Aguda will be joining our faculty. She is a deeply committed Christian and just the type of scholar we look forward to adding to the faculty of Boyce College,” Mohler said.
Aguda’s impressive credentials include an M.S. in Education and a B.A. in International Affairs and English from Florida State University. Her professional journey has seen her take on significant roles at leading conservative institutions, including serving as Project Manager at the National Review Institute and as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal. Her experience also includes directing academic fellowships and conferences, showcasing her dedication to fostering scholarly dialogue among faculty and students nationwide.
In her own words, Aguda expressed her excitement about joining the Boyce community, highlighting the institution’s commitment to Christian convictions and rigorous scholarship. “Boyce College is not only a vibrant academic village, but a faithful Christian community,” she said. “Engaging with students in the great conversation of the Western tradition and passing on a love for the permanent things is one of the greatest privileges and responsibilities the Lord has bestowed on me.”
As Aguda prepares to marry this October and transition into her new role, Boyce College continues to solidify its mission of training students to think deeply, live faithfully, and engage the world with biblical conviction. With Aguda’s appointment, the college looks forward to further enriching its academic environment and nurturing the next generation of leaders.
