In a dramatic escalation of their long-standing feud, President Donald Trump has threatened to revoke comedian Rosie O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship, branding her a “threat to humanity.” The remarks come in the wake of O’Donnell’s criticism of the administration’s handling of the devastating floods in Texas, which have claimed over 120 lives.
On Saturday, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, stating, “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her.”
O’Donnell, 63, has been a vocal critic of Trump for years, moving to Ireland earlier this year after he secured a second term in office. In response to Trump’s latest attack, she fired back on Instagram, calling him a “dangerous old soulless man with dementia.” She emphasized that his threats are constitutionally impossible and expressed her disdain for his leadership.
“The president of the USA has always hated the fact that I see him for who he is—a criminal con man, sexual-abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself,” O’Donnell wrote. She continued, “I stand in direct opposition to all he represents—so do millions of others. Are you going to deport all who stand against your evil tendencies?”
The feud between O’Donnell and Trump dates back to the 2000s when she was a panellist on The View. Reflecting on her decision to leave the U.S. with her youngest daughter, Clay, O’Donnell stated, “I have no regrets.” She added, “What are the chances that the one guy I exposed for being a misogynist and sexist pig on The View would become the president of the United States?”
O’Donnell also lamented the personal attacks she has faced from Trump and his supporters over the years, questioning why she has been targeted so relentlessly. “It’s really not something I’d wish on anybody,” she concluded.
As the feud continues to unfold, it raises questions about the boundaries of political discourse and the implications of public figures using their platforms to attack one another. With both Trump and O’Donnell firmly entrenched in their positions, it seems this battle is far from over.
