Latest National and International Sports News Today: T20 World Cup 2024 Groups, BCCI Job Applications, Prize Money for Groundsmen, Para Athletics Championship, Hockey Thriller, Neeraj Chopra’s Withdrawal, and PV Sindhu’s Defeat

The cricket world is abuzz with excitement as the T20 World Cup 2024 is set to kick off on June 1. The tournament will feature 20 teams, with Group A consisting of powerhouse teams like India and Pakistan, along with hosts United States, Ireland, and Canada. The matches will be played in the USA, with the West Indies co-hosting the event.

On the other hand, Group B includes teams like England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman, with all matches set to take place in the West Indies. The semifinals and final will be held in Guyana and Barbados, respectively.

In other cricket news, the BCCI has received multiple applications for the head coach position of the Indian men’s cricket team, including names like Tendulkar, Dhoni, and even politicians like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Moving on to para-athletics, Indian para-athlete Simran Sharma made the country proud by winning the gold medal in the women’s 200m T12 final at the World Para Athletics Championship in Japan. She also secured a quota for the Paris Paralympics.

In hockey, the Indian men’s team emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Argentina in the FIH Pro League mini-tournament, with Harmanpreet Singh scoring a hat-trick.

Unfortunately, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has been pulled out of an event in the Czech Republic due to adductor tightness and fatigue from back-to-back competitions.

Lastly, in badminton news, PV Sindhu faced a tough defeat in the women’s singles final at the Malaysia Masters 2024 against China’s Wang Zhi Yi. Despite the loss, Sindhu remains positive and looks forward to learning from the experience.
