“2024 Republican National Convention Preview: What to Expect and How to Watch”

The Republican National Convention is set to kick off in Milwaukee on July 15-18, with former President Donald Trump accepting his party’s presidential nomination just days after surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.

During the four-day convention, GOP heavyweights will energize the base, the party’s official platform will be finalized, and Trump’s running mate will make an appearance. The event will take place at the Fiserv Forum, home of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, as well as the nearby Baird Center and Panther Arena.

Wisconsin, a crucial battleground state, is hosting the convention, as both Trump and President Joe Biden are vying to win it in November. Trump narrowly won Wisconsin in 2016, while Biden secured it in 2020.

Each day of the convention will have a theme, playing off Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan. The RNC has not yet released a detailed schedule of speakers, but former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley is confirmed to speak on Tuesday night.

The event is not open to the general public, as it is a credentialed event for delegates, politicians, media, and volunteers. However, the Republican National Committee will stream convention events online, and ABC News will provide special coverage on TV and online platforms.

The RNC will also vote on the GOP’s 2024 platform, which includes a softened stance on abortion that has drawn criticism from anti-abortion conservatives. The Democratic National Convention is set to take place in Chicago from August 19-22.
