Hainan Free Trade Port Launches Vibrant Tourism Promotion in Hong Kong
HONG KONG SAR – September 12, 2025 — As the summer sun begins to wane, the Hainan Free Trade Port is turning up the heat on tourism with an exciting series of promotional activities in Hong Kong. From September 7 to 11, the tropical island province showcased its unique offerings through a themed conference, a captivating photo exhibition, an intangible cultural heritage display, and a stunning Li brocade fashion show.
The “All the Sun, All the Fun” Hainan Free Trade Port Tourism Promotion Conference kicked off the five-day event, hosted by the Hainan Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV, and Sports. Nearly 100 guests, including representatives from the Asian Tourism Exchange Center and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, gathered to explore the island’s charm during this season of pleasant weather.
Tommy Tan, chairman of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, emphasized the synergy between Hainan’s rich tourism resources and Hong Kong’s status as a global financial and cultural hub. “The integration of Hainan’s offerings with Hong Kong’s platforms lays a solid foundation for successful cooperation,” he stated.
A standout feature of the promotion was the tourism photo exhibition, which displayed over 80 breathtaking images capturing Hainan’s diverse attractions, from its pristine beaches to its health and wellness offerings. Local resident Huang Wenhua expressed her newfound desire to visit, saying, “I haven’t been to Hainan yet, but after seeing these pictures, I suddenly feel a strong urge to go!”
The event also celebrated Hainan’s intangible cultural heritage, showcasing ethnic costumes, cultural performances, and local delicacies. The Li brocade clothing, with a rich history of 3,000 years, particularly captivated attendees, blending tradition with modern fashion.
Tang Qiuchen, an executive from Hainan Li Brocade Culture Communication Co., Ltd., highlighted the cultural significance of the brocade, stating, “The beauty of Hainan is not only reflected in the blue sky and clear sea but also in these cultural items.”
In a nod to the digital age, the Hainan Department awarded “Tourism International Promotion Ambassador” certificates to six Hong Kong social media influencers. One recipient, Lin Lijun, expressed her excitement about sharing Hainan’s allure with her followers, saying, “I look forward to capturing the gentle sea breeze, warm sunshine, and relaxed pace of life.”
As Hainan continues to promote its tourism potential, the island province is poised to attract more visitors from Hong Kong and beyond, inviting everyone to experience its warm sunshine and vibrant culture.
