Briggs’s Curly Hair Care Routine: Tips and Techniques for Perfect Curls

The Art of Curls: Inside Briggs’s Hair Care Routine

In the world of hair care, finding the perfect routine can be a journey filled with trial and error. For actress and model Briggs, her quest for the ideal curly hair regimen has led her to a finely-tuned process that balances product use with technique.

Briggs washes her hair every four to five days, but when she’s on set, that frequency increases to every three to four days due to the heavy use of styling products. “I’ve tried multiple different methods for styling my hair: the bowl method, finger curling, brush styling, and to be honest, I’m still figuring out what works best,” she admits.

Her current routine is a meticulous dance of product application and styling. She begins with a nickel-sized amount of cream and gel, applied to very wet hair. “I only use a small amount of product because my hair is so fine. If I use any more, it’ll weigh it down and make it look greasy,” she explains.

Briggs employs two main techniques for styling: sectioning her hair for a brush style or combing through it all at once. After scrunching, she gently separates the curls with her fingers. “If my hair is still dripping wet at this point, I’ll use a microfiber cloth to gently squeeze the excess water out,” she adds.

To achieve maximum volume, Briggs turns to gravity, diffusing her hair while hanging her head upside down. “I always dry my roots first, so they’re not weighed down by the rest of my hair,” she says, emphasizing the importance of technique in achieving the perfect curl.

Once her hair is dry, she finishes with a volumizing powder and an oil. “If I see any curls that aren’t behaving, I’ll go back in, wet the strands, finger curl them, quickly diffuse again, and that’s it!” The entire process takes around an hour, while a simpler rewet and restyle can be done in 45 minutes.

Briggs also shares her top tips for maintaining healthy curls. “At night, wrap your hair in silk or satin or use a silk pillowcase,” she advises. “Be very gentle with curly hair when wet. You don’t want to shake it or scrunch too much; that can ruin the curl pattern. Always apply leave-in products on very wet hair for better absorption.”

Her go-to products include Cécred’s Clarifying Shampoo, used every eight to ten days, and Briogeo’s Curl Charisma Shampoo and Conditioner for regular wash days. “Using a curl shampoo and conditioner was a real game-changer for me,” she says, noting a significant improvement in definition and volume.

Briggs swears by Briogeo’s Curl Charisma Defining Cream and Frizz Control Gel, applied in that order. For diffusing, she prefers the Pattern hair dryer, and she finishes her look with OSiS+ Dust It for volume at the roots and Bread Hair Oil for the rest of her hair.

With her carefully curated routine, Briggs not only embraces her natural curls but also inspires others to find their own unique hair care methods. As she continues to navigate the world of styling, one thing is clear: the journey to perfect curls is as beautiful as the curls themselves.
