Hyderabad Aims to Become Hollywood’s Next Hotspot

Hyderabad, India – In a bold vision for the future, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced on Sunday that Hyderabad should position itself as a premier destination for Hollywood film productions. Speaking at the prestigious Ramoji Excellence Awards 2025, Reddy emphasized the city’s burgeoning film ecosystem, which has already established a strong foothold in Tollywood and is gaining traction in Bollywood.

“Hyderabad has matured to a point where filmmakers can come to the city with a script and leave with a finished film,” Reddy stated, highlighting the city’s unique blend of cultural landmarks such as Charminar, Golkonda, Hi-Tec City, and Ramoji Film City.

The event, which celebrated excellence in various fields, also featured Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who praised Ramoji Rao for his lifelong commitment to Telugu language and culture. “These awards reflect his spirit, honoring individuals who embody excellence and impact,” Naidu remarked.

Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, who graced the occasion, called for collective responsibility in tackling social and regional challenges. He urged attendees to “say no to drugs” and unite against narcotics, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the two Telugu states.

Celebrating Excellence

The Ramoji Excellence Awards recognized several outstanding individuals for their contributions to society:

  • Amla Ashok Ruia received the Rural Development Award for transforming 1,353 villages across 11 states by constructing check dams and improving water security.
  • Akash Tandon, founder of Pehchaan The Street School in Delhi, was honored for his work supporting over 1,700 children, achieving a remarkable 94% board exam pass rate.
  • Prof. Sathupati Prasanna Sree, the first woman to develop scripts for multiple tribal languages in India, was recognized in the Art and Culture category.
  • Srikanth Bolla, a blind entrepreneur and MIT graduate, received the Youth Icon award for founding Bollant Industries, valued at around ₹500 crore.
  • Prof. Madhavi Latha Gali was honored for her pioneering work in geotechnical engineering at IISc Bengaluru.
  • Pallabi Ghosh, a leading anti-trafficking activist, was recognized for rescuing over 10,000 survivors and impacting nearly 75,000 women through rehabilitation and education.

As Hyderabad sets its sights on becoming a global film hub, the city’s rich cultural heritage and growing infrastructure may soon attract filmmakers from around the world, marking a new chapter in its cinematic journey.
