Israel responds to attention on Rafah with question about October 7 incident

Israel’s Response to Criticism Over Strikes on Rafah in Gaza

Israel Faces Backlash Over Deadly Strikes in Rafah, Counters Criticism with Sharp Retort

Israel has been at the center of international criticism following the recent air strikes in the southern city of Rafah in war-torn Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of at least 45 Palestinians, including displaced individuals living in tents that were engulfed by fire.

In response to the ‘All Eyes On Rafah’ trend that has been circulating on social media, Israel has sought to defend its actions. The trend, which has been widely shared by people around the world, including celebrities and sportspersons, aims to draw attention to Israel’s air strikes in Rafah.

Despite the widespread outrage over the deadly strikes, Israel has denied its involvement in the attack, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributing it to a “tragic mishap.”

In a bold move to counter the criticism, Israel shared an image on social media questioning why people did not highlight the deadly attack carried out by the Hamas militant group on Israel in October of the previous year. The image, which features a Hamas militant standing in front of a baby, asks, “Where were your eyes on October 7.”

The surprise attack on October 7 resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,160 people in Israel, the majority of whom were civilians. Additionally, around 250 individuals were taken hostage by the militant group, with some being released during a week-long truce in November. In retaliation, Israel’s offensive in Gaza has claimed the lives of at least 36,050 people, predominantly civilians, according to the territory’s health ministry.

The sharp retort from Israel has sparked further debate and controversy surrounding the ongoing conflict in the region, highlighting the complexities and challenges faced by both sides.
