Legal Update: Justin Baldoni Seeks Dismissal of Blake Lively’s Harassment Claims Amid Ongoing Court Battle

Legal Showdown: Justin Baldoni Seeks Dismissal of Blake Lively’s Harassment Claims

In a dramatic twist to the ongoing legal saga between actors Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, Baldoni has filed a motion to dismiss Lively’s sexual harassment lawsuit against him. This latest development comes just months after Baldoni dropped his own $400 million defamation suit against Lively, following a court dismissal.

The legal battle ignited in December 2024, when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, shortly after the release of their film It Ends With Us. In response, Baldoni vehemently denied the allegations and countered with a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times for its reporting on Lively’s claims.

Now, in a recent filing, Baldoni’s legal team argues that “no reasonable jury” would find him guilty of the accusations. They are challenging Lively’s claims of lost earnings, which she alleges resulted from the negative press surrounding the case, asserting that her claims lack sufficient evidence and are speculative.

Baldoni’s attorneys have specifically requested the court to dismiss several aspects of Lively’s damages, including her assertions of lost profits and royalties, arguing that she “lacks standing” to make such claims.

This motion follows a series of depositions involving Lively’s friends and co-stars, although her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was notably not called to testify. The legal team for Baldoni has emphasized their commitment to pursuing the truth, stating that the media has distorted the narrative surrounding the case.

Judge Lewis Liman of the Manhattan US District Court previously dismissed Baldoni’s claims against Lively and others, ruling that her statements were protected under legal privilege. The judge noted that The New York Times had accurately reported on the allegations and had sought comment from Baldoni prior to publication.

As the legal battle continues to unfold, both parties remain entrenched in their positions, with the public eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this high-profile dispute.
