K-Beauty Breakthrough: Gravity Shampoo Tops Rakuten Sales on Launch Day

Tokyo, Japan – In a remarkable debut, Gravity Shampoo, developed by the innovative Polyphenol Factory founded by KAIST researchers, has claimed the title of the “No. 1 overall product in the K-beauty category” on Rakuten, Japan’s leading online marketplace, just hours after its official launch on October 1st.

Since its introduction in South Korea in April 2022, Gravity Shampoo has seen phenomenal success, with cumulative sales surpassing 1.52 million bottles. The star product making waves in Japan is the Gravity g0.0 Hair Baldify Shampoo, which boasts the patented ingredient “LiftMax 308.” This unique component creates a protective film around the hair, significantly reducing damage from environmental stressors.

Clinical trials have showcased impressive results, revealing that users experienced a 6.27% increase in hair thickness and a staggering 140% improvement in hair volume after just one application. The shampoo has also proven effective in enhancing hair tensile strength and mitigating hair loss.

Following its successful online launch, Gravity Shampoo is set to expand its reach into the Japanese offline market. Starting October 15th, the product will be available in over ten beauty editing stores across Tokyo, further solidifying its presence in the competitive beauty landscape.

Looking ahead, the Polyphenol Factory aims to strengthen its foothold in the K-beauty sector by targeting European markets, including the United States and France. The brand is also gearing up for participation in CES 2026, showcasing its commitment to innovation and global outreach.

Lee Hae-shin, CEO of Polyphenol Factory, expressed enthusiasm about the product’s potential in Japan, stating, “Japan is a market where the effect of polyphenol-based hair management can be further maximized due to high humidity and thin hair. We designed it to give strength and volume to hair by forming a stable protective layer, and we will continue to address the real concerns of Japanese consumers with science-based solutions.”

As Gravity Shampoo continues to gain traction, it is poised to become a staple in the beauty routines of consumers seeking effective hair care solutions.
