In football, the Durand Cup quarterfinals are set to take place today with Northeast United FC facing off against Army Sports Control Board at 4pm, followed by East Bengal taking on Shillong Lajong at 7pm. Meanwhile, in badminton, the Japan Open Super 750 is underway with India’s bench players stepping up to the challenge after the top players pulled out post-Olympics. In chess, World Championship challenger D Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa are showcasing their skills at the Sinquefield Cup tournament in Saint Louis.

The Indian wrestling scene saw Ronak Dahiya and Pardhi Sainath competing for bronze at the U-17 World Championship, while in badminton, India’s women’s singles challenge ended in the first round of the Japan Open Super 750. In chess, Gukesh and Ding Liren played a draw in the opening round of the Sinquefield Cup. Additionally, the Paralympic Committee of India appointed Satya Prakash Sangwan as the chef de mission for the Indian contingent at the upcoming Paris Paralympics.
