Transforming Style: Reporter William Woodworth’s Fashion Makeover at Thomas’s

From Hoodie to Haute: Reporter William Woodworth’s Style Transformation at Thomas’s

Marlborough Weekly’s William Woodworth trades his casual Saturday attire for a chic makeover, showcasing the power of personal style.

Marlborough, NZ – In a daring leap from his usual Saturday hoodie and running shorts, Marlborough Weekly reporter William Woodworth stepped into the world of fashion at Thomas’s, where he underwent a stunning style transformation. The experience, captured in striking before-and-after photos by local photographer David James, highlights the importance of personal style and self-expression.

As part of his ongoing column, Billy Tries, Woodworth has tackled a variety of challenges, from sheep shearing to dog sledding. This week, however, he faced a different kind of challenge: revamping his wardrobe and grooming.

Upon entering Thomas’s, Woodworth felt a bit out of place among the stylish clientele. After a quick round of “before” photos, he was whisked away to the styling chair, where hair experts Steve Wilson from iHair and Glen Ruddle from Anti New York were ready to work their magic.

“Hair care is all about getting to the roots,” explained Wilson. “Many people apply products on top, but it’s crucial to support and give structure from underneath.” Ruddle echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the value of investing in quality hair products. “I call it the ‘lipstick economy’,” he said. “People may not splurge on a new car, but they deserve a little luxury in their hair and skincare.”

With his hair styled to perfection, Woodworth then turned to in-house stylist Mel for fashion advice. Seeking both formal and casual options, he explored a range of jackets and pants. Mel shared essential styling tips, such as balancing colors and patterns, and how darker denim can elevate an outfit’s formality.

After selecting two standout outfits, the moment of truth arrived: the “after” photoshoot. “Chin down, hand in pocket, turn towards me – that’s it!” directed James, capturing Woodworth’s newfound confidence.

Jesse North, Marketing Manager at Thomas’s, highlighted the store’s commitment to customer care. “Styling is a regular service we offer, especially with Father’s Day approaching. We want our customers to enjoy a pampering session and leave with something special for the new season.”

Woodworth’s experience at Thomas’s serves as a reminder that a little attention to personal style can go a long way. With his transformation complete, he left the store not just looking good, but feeling empowered and ready to take on the world—one stylish outfit at a time.
