On October 17, Mielle Organics launched the second stop of its highly anticipated “MiCurl Out Homecoming Tour” at Florida A&M University (FAMU), marking a significant moment for students and the brand alike. The tour, which aims to visit four historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), is designed to address the unique hair-care challenges faced by students in areas with limited access to specialty products.
Omar Goff, president of Mielle Organics and a proud alumnus of FAMU’s School of Business and Industry, emphasized the tour’s commitment to equity and authenticity. “Our goal is to not only show up at the campus but also invest,” Goff stated, highlighting the importance of supporting HBCUs that often miss out on crucial brand funding.
“HBCUs are such a pivotal part of culture, and as brand leaders, it’s important for us to stay connected to culture but also to pay respect to culture,” he added in an interview with FAMU Online.
Mielle Organics has a history of supporting HBCU athletics, including partnerships with FAMU Cheer and Howard University’s swim team. Goff noted that these collaborations reflect the company’s dedication to serving “underserved and underrepresented” communities.
The event at FAMU was not just about product promotion; it also fostered engagement and education. Crystal Moulton, a fourth-year public relations student, shared her experience, stating, “My conversation with the people who were running the activation pushed me to start supporting Mielle and giving more of their products a try.”
As the tour continues, Mielle Organics plans to host a series of events at additional HBCU campuses, featuring product education, beauty-care workshops, and community-driven experiences. The initiative aims to create a lasting impact, ensuring that students have access to the resources they need to embrace their natural beauty.
With the FAMU stop now completed, excitement builds for the upcoming locations on the MiCurl Out Homecoming Tour, as Mielle Organics remains committed to empowering the next generation of leaders in the Black community.
