North Bay Couple Launches Innovative Medicated Shampoo to Revolutionize Scalp Health in Canada

North Bay Couple Launches Groundbreaking Medicated Shampoo to Tackle Scalp Issues

Toronto, ON – A husband-and-wife duo from North Bay is making significant strides in the Canadian hair care industry with the launch of their innovative medicated shampoo, FREEDOM Medicated Shampoo. This product, developed by John Ranney and Kelly Clement-Ranney, is designed to address common scalp issues and is the first of its kind in Canada to feature a two percent concentration of Zinc Pyrithione.

The inspiration for this groundbreaking product arose from a personal challenge. John, a trichologist with years of experience in hair and scalp health, relied on a U.S.-made shampoo that was abruptly discontinued. “It was fantastic. I couldn’t function without it,” he shared. Frustrated by the lack of effective alternatives, the couple decided to create their own solution.

The Ranneys have deep roots in North Bay, with John’s family history in the area dating back to the 1920s. His great-grandfather served as a physician and coroner, while his father ran a local hairstyling shop. Kelly’s family ties are equally strong, with generations born in North Bay. “We’re proud of our roots,” she said. “This is where it all started for us.”

After taking over John’s parents’ hair-replacement clinic in 2000, the couple transformed it into a full trichology center, focusing on diagnosing and treating hair and scalp problems. Their clinic regularly addresses conditions like dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and psoriasis, which can exacerbate hair thinning. John emphasizes the importance of scalp health in hair restoration, stating, “When you treat hair loss, you have to treat the scalp first.”

The FREEDOM Medicated Shampoo is formulated to deliver twice the active ingredient compared to leading brands, making it a powerful ally for those struggling with scalp issues. Kelly, who has personally battled psoriasis, tested the shampoo early on and is passionate about raising awareness of scalp health. “So many people are walking around with issues on their scalp and don’t even realize it,” she noted.

In addition to the shampoo, the couple’s medical product line includes the TrichoBoost serum and a Minoxidil 5 percent solution. Their vision extends beyond just product development; they aim to educate the public about the importance of early intervention in scalp health.

Looking ahead, the Ranneys are focused on expanding their distribution to salons, trichology clinics, and dermatology offices across Canada. “There’s such a need for it,” John stated, highlighting the demand for effective scalp treatments.

As they embark on this new chapter, Kelly hopes their success will resonate with their hometown community. “I think people in North Bay will be really proud of us. We just want to help people,” she said.
