Queens of the Stone Age Redefine Their Sound in a Captivating Acoustic Performance at the Dolby Theatre

Queens of the Stone Age Dazzles with Unconventional Acoustic Tour at Dolby Theatre

Hollywood, CA – November 11, 2025 – In a night that blurred the lines between rock and orchestral beauty, Queens of the Stone Age took the stage at the Dolby Theatre for their first-ever acoustic tour, leaving fans both bewildered and enchanted. The evening was a celebration of the band’s unique sound, reimagined through new arrangements that showcased their musical evolution.

As the sold-out crowd settled in, frontman Josh Homme acknowledged the strangeness of the night. “I know it’s all a bit strange and unusual, and a little terrifying,” he quipped, eliciting laughter from the audience. “Well, tough (bleep), Larry, life is scary. That’s the point.” With that, the band embarked on a two-hour journey that would challenge and delight their devoted fans.

The tour, aptly named the Catacombs Tour, was inspired by the band’s groundbreaking performance in the Catacombs of Paris in July 2024, where they became the first musical act to perform legally in the ancient burial site. This unique experience influenced the arrangements for their latest EP, Alive in the Catacombs, which served as the foundation for the evening’s setlist.

The show opened with a haunting mashup of “Running Joke” and “Paper Machete,” setting the tone for a night filled with unexpected twists. The first act featured five songs from Alive in the Catacombs, each delivered with a delicate touch, enhanced by the ethereal sounds of violins and cello. The somber “Villains of Circumstance” resonated deeply, evoking the ambiance of a melancholic Parisian café.

As the night progressed, the stage transformed with the addition of a chamber orchestra, featuring a brass section that elevated the sound to new heights. Homme, ever the showman, roamed the aisles with a butcher’s cleaver, adding an element of theatricality to the performance. “It’s funny dressing up,” he remarked, playfully addressing the audience’s attire. “It’s a way of saying I love you.”

Fans were treated to rare gems from the band’s extensive catalog, including “Mosquito Song” and “Spinning in Daffodils,” a cover from Homme’s side project Them Crooked Vultures. The third act saw a return to the band’s signature sound, with electric guitars and a more robust rhythm section, culminating in a powerful rendition of “Long Slow Goodbye.” Homme’s poignant lyrics about life and loss resonated deeply, inviting the audience to join in a heartfelt sing-along.

Opening for Queens of the Stone Age was Paris Jackson, who captivated the audience with her new acoustic sound. Her witty banter and soulful melodies set the perfect tone for the evening, showcasing her growth as an artist.

As the night drew to a close, it was clear that Queens of the Stone Age had not only reinvented their music but had also created a unique experience that resonated with fans on multiple levels. The Catacombs Tour was more than just a concert; it was a celebration of creativity, vulnerability, and the power of music to connect us all.
