Golf Business News – IAGTO European Convention reports record-breaking attendance

The second annual IAGTO European Convention, held in Andalucia’s Malaga City in the Costa del Sol from May 13-15, broke records with 780 delegates in attendance. This event marked the largest golf tourism sales event in the 27-year history of the global golf tourism organization IAGTO.

The convention, known as IEC 2024 Málaga, took place at the FYCMA Trade Fairs and Congress Centre and saw participation from 326 golf tourism suppliers from 28 countries across Europe and Africa, along with 284 IAGTO accredited golf tour operators from 35 countries. These delegates were actively selling golf vacations to various destinations.

Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, “Our objective was to make IEC the most affordable, productive, and enjoyable golf travel trade event for accredited golf tour operators selling golf destinations in Europe and Africa, and we achieved all of these goals.”

The success of the convention was attributed to the support of the tourist boards of Andalucia, Costa del Sol, and Malaga City. As a result, IAGTO has announced that IEC 2025 will be held in Gran Canaria from May 19-21.

Overall, the IAGTO European Convention set a new benchmark for golf tourism events, showcasing the industry’s growth and potential for future collaborations and partnerships.
