Top 10 Most Peaceful Countries in the World: Global Peace Index 2023 Rankings

The Institute for Economics and Peace recently released its annual Global Peace Index, ranking the most peaceful countries in the world. Despite ongoing conflicts in various regions, some countries have managed to maintain peace and stability, fostering economic growth and investments.

India, in particular, has shown improvement in its ranking, moving up to 126 out of 163 countries in the GPI 2023. This improvement reflects the country’s efforts towards peace and stability.

2. Denmark: Denmark has risen to the second position, with its low economic cost of violence contributing to its high ranking.
3. Ireland: Ireland holds the third position, with its neutral army and strong social cohesion playing key roles in its peaceful nature.
4. New Zealand: New Zealand ranks fourth globally and is the most peaceful country in the Asia-Pacific region.
5. Austria: Austria retains its spot as the fifth-most peaceful country, excelling in all domains of peace.
6. Singapore: Singapore climbed three places in the index, showcasing its low crime rate and robust education system.
7. Portugal: Portugal maintains its place among the top ten most peaceful countries, with strong social cohesion and education systems.
8. Slovenia: Slovenia is the only country in Central Europe in the top ten, focusing on social cohesion and peace.
9. Japan: Japan moved up one rank, securing the second spot in safety and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
10. Switzerland: Switzerland rounds out the top ten, focusing on stability and prosperity despite high weapons exports.

These countries serve as models for peaceful societies, emphasizing the importance of social cohesion, education, and low crime rates in maintaining peace.
