Applications Open for New Business Investor Visa in New Zealand

New Zealand is rolling out the welcome mat for experienced businesspeople with the launch of the Business Investor Visa, aimed at attracting investment to bolster the economy and create jobs.

Applications are now open for the Business Investor Visa, a new immigration pathway designed to attract seasoned entrepreneurs eager to invest in and grow established businesses in New Zealand.

“This visa is about bringing practical skills and capital into the economy. We want investors who will roll up their sleeves and help New Zealand businesses thrive,” said Immigration Minister Erica Stanford. “This visa keeps businesses strong, creates jobs for Kiwis, and brings valuable skills and experience into our communities.”

The Business Investor Visa offers two enticing investment options:

  • $1 million investment in an existing business for a three-year work-to-residence pathway.
  • $2 million investment in an existing business for a 12-month fast-track to residence.

Minister Stanford emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “We want to help keep businesses going where New Zealand business owners are looking to retire. Opening the door for overseas buyers means we can protect local jobs while attracting investors who can inject fresh energy and investment into small businesses that are vital to local economies.”

This new visa is part of a broader refresh of the Government’s business visa settings aimed at supporting growth. Since the introduction of the Active Investor Plus visa in April, New Zealand has already seen over 440 applications, potentially bringing in $2.63 billion in investment.

“Attracting investment is crucial to boosting economic growth and creating more opportunities for New Zealanders,” Stanford added.

With the Business Investor Visa now open for applications, New Zealand is poised to enhance its economic landscape, inviting global talent and investment to help local businesses thrive.
