Moxie Beauty Seeks $15 Million in Funding to Expand in India’s Growing Hair-Care Market
Moxie Beauty Secures $15 Million Funding to Expand in India’s Booming Hair-Care Market
NEW DELHI: Moxie Beauty, a rising star in the hair-care industry, is on the brink of raising approximately $15 million (≈ ₹130 crore) in a new funding round led by global investment firm Bessemer Venture Partners, according to sources familiar with the deal. This fresh capital injection is set to bolster Moxie’s ambitions in a rapidly growing market.
Existing investors, including Fireside Ventures, are expected to participate in this funding round, reflecting a robust confidence in India’s premium personal-care sector. The funds will be strategically allocated towards research and development, product innovation, and expanding manufacturing capabilities. Moxie also aims to enhance its online and offline retail presence while ramping up branding and influencer-led marketing efforts.
This move comes at a time when India’s beauty and personal-care industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, with the domestic market projected to be valued at around $28-30 billion by 2024. Analysts note a significant shift in consumer preferences, moving away from traditional mass-market products to premium, efficacy-driven solutions that prioritize scalp health and specialized hair care.
Premium Brands Lead the Charge
Home-grown brands like Mamaearth have already established a strong presence in the premium skin- and hair-care segment. In FY24, Mamaearth’s parent company, Honasa Consumer Ltd., reported a remarkable 29% increase in revenue, reaching ₹1,920 crore, alongside a net profit of ₹111 crore—a significant turnaround from previous years. The company’s revenues continued to climb in FY25, hitting approximately ₹2,145.7 crore, driven by the rising demand for “clean beauty” and natural-ingredient products.
Heritage Ayurvedic and herbal brands such as Forest Essentials, Himalaya Herbals, and Biotique are also thriving, appealing to consumers seeking natural, chemical-free options. Forest Essentials, in particular, ranks among India’s top cosmetic companies, benefiting from the broader growth in herbal beauty. The Indian herbal beauty and skincare market was valued at about $3.1 billion in 2024, with projections suggesting it could reach around $10.3 billion by 2033.
As Moxie Beauty embarks on its growth journey, the success of established legacy and premium brands highlights the vast potential within India’s beauty-care sector. Urban centers are witnessing a surge in demand for specialized, high-quality products, driven by evolving consumer tastes, rising incomes, and increased awareness about hair and skin health.
With this new funding, Moxie Beauty is poised to make significant strides in the competitive landscape of India’s beauty industry, catering to a discerning clientele eager for innovative and effective hair-care solutions.
