Pig-N-Chik BBQ to Close After 24 Years in Sandy Springs, Hosts Farewell Party on August 16

Sandy Springs’ Beloved Pig-N-Chik BBQ to Close After 24 Years

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — After nearly a quarter-century of serving up mouthwatering BBQ, Pig-N-Chik BBQ in the Fountain Oaks shopping center will close its doors for good on August 16. The announcement, made on July 24 via the restaurant’s Facebook page, has left many in the community heartbroken.

The closure comes after the restaurant’s landlord decided not to renew the lease for the location at 4920 Roswell Road. However, fans of the local chain can still enjoy their favorite dishes at the other two locations in Chamblee and Decatur, which will remain open.

To bid farewell, Pig-N-Chik is hosting a “Shut Er Down” party on the final day, inviting patrons to come and celebrate the restaurant’s legacy with pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, and brisket. “Twenty-four great years of serving the amazing communities of Sandy Springs and Chastain Park is about to come to an end,” the post read. “We want everyone to know how much we appreciate all the love and support we’ve had over those 24 years.”

The 1,875-square-foot restaurant, known for its outdoor patio and ample parking, has been a staple in the community, drawing in BBQ lovers from near and far. Co-founder Jim Graddy shared the restaurant’s heartfelt story, recalling summers spent on his uncle’s pig farm and the bond formed with his business partner, Bill Marrack, over their shared passion for BBQ.

Since its inception, Pig-N-Chik has transformed the BBQ scene in north Metro Atlanta, introducing a pizzeria-style delivery and counter-service model long before the fast-casual trend took off.

The Fountain Oaks shopping center, recently purchased by Jamestown for $47.9 million, has seen significant changes over the years, but the loss of Pig-N-Chik marks the end of an era for many loyal customers.

As the community prepares to say goodbye, the owners encourage everyone to visit before the closing date. For more information, fans can visit pignchik.net.

Mark your calendars for August 16 and join the celebration of a beloved local institution. Whether you’re a long-time patron or a first-time visitor, the flavors and memories of Pig-N-Chik will surely be missed.
