Justin Baldoni Decides Against Refiling Blake Lively Lawsuit After Judge Dismisses Case

Justin Baldoni Drops Lawsuit Against Blake Lively Following Dismissal by Judge

Justin Baldoni Opts Not to Refile Lawsuit Against Blake Lively Following Dismissal

In a surprising turn of events, actor Justin Baldoni has reportedly decided not to refile his lawsuit against Blake Lively after a judge dismissed the case earlier this week. The legal battle, which has captivated fans and media alike, began when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation following the release of their film, It Ends With Us.

In June, Baldoni initially filed a staggering $400 million defamation suit against Lively, only to drop it after the Manhattan US District Court dismissed the case. The dismissal came after Judge Lewis Liman ruled that Lively’s statements were protected under legal privilege, stemming from her court filings.

Despite having the option to appeal the dismissal, Baldoni has chosen not to pursue further legal action. According to documents obtained by TMZ, this decision resulted in all of Baldoni’s claims against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times being thrown out of court.

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, clarified the situation in a statement, asserting, “At this point, we have to set the record straight: no deadlines were missed. Our clients chose not to amend their complaint to preserve appeal rights.” He emphasized their commitment to pursuing the truth regarding Lively’s allegations, which he claims have been distorted in media reports.

The legal saga began in December 2024 when Lively filed her complaint against Baldoni. In response, Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times for their coverage of the situation. However, the judge dismissed this lawsuit as well, stating that the newspaper’s reporting accurately reflected Lively’s claims and that they had sought comment from Baldoni prior to publication.

The fallout from this high-profile case has seen several of Lively’s friends and co-stars deposed, although Reynolds was notably spared from testifying. The deposition process included notable figures such as novelist Colleen Hoover, whose book inspired the film, and Lively’s publicist and on-set team.

As the dust settles on this contentious legal battle, both parties appear to be focusing on their respective careers and personal lives. While Baldoni has opted not to pursue further legal action, Lively continues to navigate the complexities of her own claims against him. The case has sparked widespread discussion about the implications of such allegations in Hollywood, highlighting the ongoing challenges surrounding issues of harassment and accountability in the entertainment industry.

As this story develops, fans and observers alike will be watching closely to see how both actors move forward from this tumultuous chapter in their careers.
