New Natural Bodycare Store Set to Open in Bronzeville

Bronzeville, WI – A fresh wave of natural wellness is set to hit the streets of Bronzeville with the upcoming grand opening of Herbs ‘N Lather, a retail store dedicated to plant-based bodycare products. Following a successful soft launch in late June, owners Alfonso and Roshundra Muhammad are gearing up for an official opening, with the date to be announced later this month.

Located at 1950 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., the store has already transformed its space with striking black paint and eye-catching window decals. The Muhammads, who began their entrepreneurial journey in 2016, initially created herb-infused whipped shea butter as a solution to the challenges posed by conventional bodycare products. This first creation ignited their passion for crafting safe, natural alternatives to chemical-laden options.

“Our journey started with that one creation,” the shop’s website states. “It sparked a passion for taking control of what we put on our skin.” Today, Herbs ‘N Lather boasts a diverse range of offerings, including creams, lotions, soaps, and oils, all infused with beneficial ingredients like chamomile, lavender, lemongrass, tea tree, and turmeric.

In addition to in-store shopping, the business features an online shop that caters to various needs, offering products for face, body, and hair, including deodorant cream, turmeric face soap, and a dedicated men’s line.

The two-story building, once home to The Reader’s Choice bookstore, was purchased in 2017 with plans for redevelopment. Although two nonprofits were initially slated to occupy the space, they have since relocated, paving the way for Herbs ‘N Lather to establish its roots in the community.

Herbs ‘N Lather joins a vibrant lineup of new businesses along a five-block stretch of King Drive, including 414loral, a boutique flower shop; Allah Mode, a therapeutic healing space; Dream Lounge Social, a sports lounge; and Kinship Cafe.
